Good day, I have a small hobby bandsaw with about 500W power and I would like to try cutting thin metal sheets with it. I have chosen a steel saw blade with a length of 1490 mm and parameters 13x0.65 / 4. The last digit, 4, is the tooth pitch. Do I understand correctly that if I want a blade with very fine teeth, I need the smallest pitch number? Thank you for advice or a direct recommendation. Also, I would like to cut thinner pieces of hardwood on the saw. Here I have read your articles and understood that the hook tooth shape is the right one for me. So I chose the thin blade 1490/10x0.65/4 - Hook. Is this okay? Thank you.

Good day, thank you for your inquiry. Length 1490 - do you have a wood or metal bandsaw? According to the band length, it looks like a table saw for wood. If it is a wood bandsaw, unfortunately you cannot cut steel with it, because the band speed would be too high and the teeth on the band would break quickly. For cutting metals, a speed about 10 times lower is needed, i.e. 40-90 meters/minute! (Wood bandsaws have about 900 m/minute). (Note: by reducing the speed with a frequency converter, you would lose the necessary power and the band would stop). On a wood bandsaw, for example, aluminum, plastics, pertinax, etc. could be cut.

When choosing the tooth pitch, the higher the TPI number, the smaller the teeth (smaller pitch). If you had a metal bandsaw, a pitch of 4 TPI (short for teeth per inch) means 4 teeth per inch. The pitch between the teeth is therefore 25.4:4 = 6.35 mm. These are too large teeth, such a pitch (4TPI) is only for solid logs with a diameter of 50 mm. For sheet metal and profiles with a wall thickness up to 2 mm, we recommend fine teeth, e.g. 10/14 TPI.

Regarding the choice of saw blade for hardwood, I approve it with the fact that the blade you have chosen - 4 TPI pitch - is ideal for a cutting depth of 20-80 mm. I recommend trying coarser teeth TPI 3 or finer TPI 6, so you can evaluate it better. You have certainly looked at the article CHOICE OF SAW BLADE TOOTH PITCH FOR WOOD.

Thank you, Regards Pavel Dudr

I am interested if I can use a 1140 size band saw blade if the original is 1141. Thank you for your answer. Regards. Ladinek

Hello, yes, you can use a 1140 mm long band saw blade even if the original length is 1141 mm. The tensioning of the band has a range of a few millimeters, so such a difference is not a problem. In addition, band saw blades are produced with a tolerance of approximately 1 tooth pitch, which is completely standard. You can also order a suitable band saw blade via our configurator: https://www.dudrsaw.eu/band-saw-blade-configurator-for-metal/1140

Good morning, I need to cut stainless steel, is this one okay or can you recommend another? Thank you very much

Good morning, for cutting stainless steel, I recommend the EPIC GP 13x0.65 mm blade, which is universal for both common steel and stainless steel.
Special blades for stainless steel are produced only from 27 mm width (e.g. XP or Siclone). I also recommend initially running in the blade on solid common steel and using cooling or at least lubrication, for example with WD spray oil.

Hello, for the Cormak G5010B saw, a band saw blade of 1470 x 13 x 0.65 mm should be suitable.
We recommend the EPIC GP metal band saw blade, which you can find here: https://www.dudrsaw.eu/band-saw-blade-configurator-for-metal/1470/13-x-0-65
We recommend testing the tooth pitch based on the dimensions of the material you are cutting – the most popular are TPI 8/12, TPI 10/14, and TPI 6/10. TPI 4 – for solid materials with a diameter of approximately 40–80 mm

Good morning this blade: EPIC GP metal band saw blades, can it be used without coolant dry? I have used a nebes 175 amateurishly dry for years, now I have a bianco 200 that I would also like to use dry if possible. thanks

Good morning, thank you for your question. EPIC GP band saw blades can also be used dry, without coolant. However, the blade life will probably be shorter compared to use with cooling, as the blade's cutting edge does not tolerate the high temperatures generated during cutting well. However, many of our customers use the blades without cooling. Best regards, Dudr Saw Team

Good morning. I have a hobby band saw of the Hecht brand... the saw blade is 1400mm long... mounted on 205mm wheels. Is it possible to cut aluminum sheets with a thickness of max 3mm on it?... it only offers me one blade 13x0.65 and I have chosen TPI 14. ... Unfortunately, I do not have the option to regulate.. the belt speed is 950m/min

Good day, you primarily have a wood saw, so you will have to reckon with certain difficulties.

For metals, look for an EPIC blade and get 14tpi or 10/14 teeth

Good afternoon, thank you for your inquiry.
We have added recommended saw blades for the Parkside PMB 1100 C3 bandsaw (link here). Ideally, about 10 teeth in the cut, meaning for solid material 30-50 I would recommend a blade with a pitch of 6/10 TPI (i.e. 8 teeth per inch - variable pitch - alternating sizes from 6 TPI to 10 TPI)
here is the link: Metal saw blade 1140/13x0.65/6/10

What is the recommended cutting speed.
Thank you.

SIMONDS

Good morning, generally the belt speed for ordinary black material is about 90 meters per minute and for tool steel, stainless steel about 40-60 meters per minute. If you want advice, feel free to contact us. Thank you.

What happens if the band breaks at the weld?
SIMONDS
Translated by AI
Good morning, Mr. Otisík, the ideal option is if you contact us and we will arrange if our sales representative is traveling near you in the following week. If no one will be traveling nearby soon, there are two options: - Either you photograph the saw band at the weld and send us the photo. - You can also send the entire saw band to the address of our facility. It is important to correctly evaluate why the given band broke, so that it does not happen when cutting with other bands as well. Sincerely Vojtěch Volf Head of Sales Department +420 774 435 667

Good day, Thank you for your inquiry. There can be several reasons why the blade was damaged. Before cutting stainless steel, it is particularly important to run in the blade on ordinary structural steel. Please contact me or one of my colleagues and we will arrange a solution for this situation. https://www.dudrsaw.eu/contacts Thank you, Kamil Šimeček - Simonds Saw Blades

Hello, what is the difference between EPIC GP and SBX GP? They have the same price.
SIMONDS
EPIC GP
Translated by AI
Good day, thank you for your inquiry. The EPIC and SBX saw bands are made of the same material, the difference is in the tooth geometry. The EPIC saw band is designed for productive cutting of solid materials and common structural profiles. The geometry of the SBX band has a reinforced tooth, which is resistant to vibration, rough handling, jamming of the band in the material, and the like. It finds application especially when cutting problematic shapes, open profiles, bundles of hollow profiles, or HEA, HEB, I, IPE U beams, etc. If you are unsure which band to choose, do not hesitate to call or write to us, we will help you choose the ideal band for you.
